| great shot, i really like the smoke. i dont really see the desolation though. |

| Cool - nice focus and exposure. The candleholder being partly in the frame is distracting. and it seems a little too cropped on the right. Its doesn't really connotate desolation though. 6 |

| Nice smoke...I think I would have cloned out some of the small bits of smoke towards the bottom though |

Sorry, but I am not convinced of Desolation.
Definitions of desolation on the Web:
*devastation: the state of being decayed or destroyed
*bleakness: a bleak and desolate atmosphere; "the nakedness of the landscape"
*forlornness: sadness resulting from being forsaken or abandoned
*devastation: an event that results in total destruction |

| Great use of USM. Love the turquoise smoke. Maybe a stretch for the challenge in my opinion, but a brilliant photo. 7 |
