---Greetings from the Critique Club!---
1st impression - Awesome photo! Beautiful colors, nice lighting, good composition. A very nice moment!
Meeting the challenge - This is probably where you suffered the most in the scoring. There's nothing technically or aesthetically wrong with the photo. For a "Shadows" challenge, while I get that there is a shadow around the adorable child, I feel the shadow should be a more of a major element of the photo. The shadow should make the photo what it is or at least improve the photo significantly by its presence.
I am sure this will be one of your favorite photos for years to come. In a different challenge it could have scored in the 7+ range.
I know I'm not telling anything you don't already know. It is difficult to critique a well done photo whose only fault is that it didn't fit the challenge.
Again, excellent photo. I MUST visit Iceland sometime!
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

I love the DOF. Could you take a headshot with your lens at f/1.2?

I love this shot, love the forest and the shadowy path and then the cute bright little guy, way to go! |

It has been validated during the voting period - I guess because it looks kind of like she's been pasted in. I'm thinking she's a lensbaby. |

Something very surreal about it, like it's out of a modern fairy tale. Well done! |

the shadows don't really seem too strong of a subject, which they should be considering the challenge topic.. other than that its a nice shot |

The only shadow I see is the one under the umbrella. This is a really good photo though. I probably gave it a higher mark than I should. IT's a great capture. Very good use of selective focus. |

I'm afriad that I don't understand the 'shadow' here. |

Interesting, arresting image; the sudden shift into sharpness grabs at the eye, and that sharpness itself is very well handled. Can't imagine that you'll hit the old challenge nail very squarely on the head though, but not a bad image at all. |

I really like the image, the title suggest shadows, but I'm not sure it met the challenge for me. I believe for you it did, so I split the 6 for not meeting the challenge for me, with a 10 for meeting it for you. 8. Okay that I really like the shot. You did a great job. |

Very nice pic, but I don't really get the shadows. I mean, I know they're there, but I don't really see them. |

I'm not getting a sense of the shadows that are supposedly surrounding this child. Does the title refer to the shaded woods? It is a nice portrait but shadows aren't the main visual impact. The connection to the challenge is pretty tenuous, IMO. |

Why does this look so fake? It is a cool photo but something is just not right? |

Very atmospheric, but it appears as if your model is set apart from the background, giving it an unnatural look. |

Wow! I like the colors and contrasts, the short DOF makes it look like she's in miniature... a hobbit maybe?? :oD |

This is another great image. Now there are 2 that I feel might win it all. |
