This is an egret taken on a trip to Elkhorn Slough near Monterey. Great place for wildlife viewing. I believe I only cropped this photo--I'm not sure how to smooth out what I believe to be the wake of the boat directly to the left of the bird's head. I love this photo otherwise (although maybe a bit too dark).

You could clone the wave out in Photoshop using the rest of the water. :)

This is a very nice photo, the reflections from the water on the birds wing look rad. But I might suggest not to crop the bird so that it sits directly in the centre of the composition. Try extending the left and top of the image by about 1/5 of what you have there. I would use a levels adjustment on this too, make the midtones "1.30" and the black tones somewhere around "8" or "10". Just fiddle with the levels until the water on the left brightens enough to expose the egret's head even more. This would also look very cool as a B&W.
