love the intensity of her stare - so cute to think of her standing there concentrating on being a statue! My youngest is 11 now, and I miss the days when my kids were cute - but that's branching into another comment!
Do me a favor and get rid of that plug on the wall and I'll give you the 10 this deserves! (like it matters NOW)
great work! |

Oh, sheesh, that is quite an eerie picture! I love how she's centered and I love that window to the side of her. I don't love the plug or the corner. But the picture is fantastic all the same, great score too! |

::: Critique Club :::
Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
This is one of my favorites from the challenge .. and I think is extremely well thought out and executed.
Subject:
Really does meet the challenge ...
Composition:
Here you did well ... but your little girl is extremely centered in the shot .. I would have loved to have had more empty space to the left of her to create that full empty room feeling .... the expression and the ghost status of her works incredibly well.
Technical (Colour and light):
Black and white was really a must for this shot. The picture is nice and sharp if not a little small. Maximising a shot to 640 (which most people voting allow for on their screens) just creates that slightly bigger impact if an image.
To grow its vote?:
Two things here .. the first is this is advanced so you could have cloned out the plugs .. also I think that having air flapping the curtains would have created a slightly more erie feel.
Summary:
Great work .. well done.
If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.
Cheers

Nice one. Could have wanted her face had been more clear, but nice modelling |

Very cool! The only thing I might have done different would be to back off a little and not make the corner be so centered. Oh and I probably would have straightened the vertical of the corner...

Did I miss where they told everyone to name their image "Left Behind"? ;-)
This is excellent. Creepy and cute at the same time. Good job! |

She looks like she'd make a very disgruntled ghost! The effect is pretty well done though I think you can see a bit of her dress "ghosted" to the left. |

I'll be stunned if you don't ribbon with this. Besides the creative technique, the girls face is nothing short of haunting. 10 |

Mom, I missed the plane? :o)
I do not feel the emptiness of the room because such a small part of it is shown. |

Intriguing shot, it holds my attention. The curtain on the right is a little bit distracting. |

This is someone, not something. Blown out light from the window is distracting. |

Nice double exposure. Certainly adds and eerie effect and mood to the image. The singe black border adds a nice effect. Well done! |

I like the idea and the realization is good. the switch on the right distracting, since is a small element you can clone the wall on it for a better effect.
best regards |

A similar idea we must have had. I like yours better than mine. Technicalities to follow: the curtains are (or seem to be) blown out. Your exposure of the room without a girl could have been shorter... composition: you should have positioned her so that the corner line runs through at least her shoulder or her left arm to enhance the ghost effect. Overall 8 in a first pass. |
