Eastern State Penitentiary housed inmates from 1829 to 1971 and is now open as a museum.

If you live near Philadelphia - the penitentiary is well worth a visit. An annual photo contest is held with details on the web site.

This was an honest mistake. The year in my camera was set accidently to 2005 instead of 2006.

Great photo and great location. I know there is a prison here in Perth (Fremantle prison) with some rooms that look like this now (it is abandoned but open to the public). Well done!

I have to say a very good picture. Great detail, contrast, shadows, and focus. I love the texture. But I can't see an item that you brought in to the picture. If you would of had one element in the photograph that you put in this would of been a 10 for me. But since I believe meeting the challenge is something I have to consider I had no choice but to lower the vote. 7

Very nice choice for the challenge - texture and color of walls is great. The thick border really isn't necessary for this picture, in my opinion.

It feels slightly crooked, maybe rotate .5 to the left? I like the abandoned look though.

If you're going to enter "Empty Room" challenge it helps to start with a great room, and this surely is one. Love the way you've captured the colors and textures of the walls. Bed frame adds context. There are many many stories this room could tell, I think. Well done! Top marks from me.

7 from me- I think I'd crop just a little on the bottom. Love the textures. The rusty colors are nice, too - even so, I'm curious to see a black and white

Wow, where the hell did you find this room? I love the shadows here! Definitely a nice shot too. My taste goes a little bit grungier than this though (Just my opinion, but I would love to see this photo a little bit underexposed with contrast between the shadows and highlights. 8
