After moving out of what was our dream house to downsize for retirement... I really had an empty room... the house closes next week. The empty chair symbolizes our absence from what was once our home. I used the natural light on an overcast day coming from the large picture window... Slightly adjusted contrast... It produced a very empty feeling in me... Empty nest, loss of our faithful dog, loss of all the relatives who were once entertained there and are now gone... buried one yesterday...

The chair is too centered. It doesn't look right.

I might have cropped the window/drapes off of the right.

Simple...could work. This might be stronger if the chair wasn't centered, the curtains weren't visible, and the wall outlet not directly behind the chair.

New house? If so - congrats! Good luck in the challenge.

hi, where is the creativity here ? sorry

Although the centered composition can be used effectively at times, I don't think it's working in this case. It looks like you had a lot of space to work with, maybe using the rule of thirds, or an off centered approach would make for a stronger composition here. Some nice natural lighting from the window. With all that space, and the baseboards and corners and such, it just looks like there is more potential here to use some nice leading lines and such. Try exploring different angles and points of view. This appears to be shot from the dreaded 'normal eye level' position. Try from down low, up high, etc.

Although this meets the challenge there really isn't any quality about it that makes it stand out from the others. It's a clear shot with nice focus, but just seems to be lacking.

Would it really be in the middle of the room?

overexposed carpet does ruin a nice image

Now this is one thing in an empty room... nothing more :)

Good lighting and composition, B&W conversion would add soul to this picture. Good luck! :-)

It's a good shot, however, my eyes drew to the curtain that needs to be straightened.
