 Remake of "princess buttercup" from the "Beauty" challenge. It's the same time of year, so these flowers are around now.

I was disappointed in the results from the original; the 2 main suggestions for improvements were (1) more stuff in focus; (2) more interest. I hope this does better, although I personally like the original better.

Shot RAW. Adjusted in Nikon Capture, saved as TIFF and opened in PSP9.

- Flipped upside down
- Cloned out one oof light spot at base of flower
- Smudged a couple impurities on petals
- Adjusted colours and contrast
- Dodged and burned
- Applied USM
- Resized
- Applied noise reduction
- Sharpened again and saved

Holy crap how did this score just a 5.6? That's probably the best use of those bokeh circles that I've ever seen. Ok, now I don't feel so bad about my latest entry.

Gorgeous colors! Very nice for the extreme dof! I especially like the bokeh on the water drops below the flower, it really captures my attention. It is a beautiful shot.

It is superior to the original, but still has issues. Too mee, I can't quite tell if I want to concentrate on the dewdrops as the subject, try to concentrate on the flower as the subject, or just take it in as an abstract. The picture doesn't really commit to any of those and that causes the ambivalence the voters are feeling (at least IMO). I gave it a 5.

This one would be better if it had a greater deapth of field and maybe a different focuspoint.
