Taken just after sunset, sorta. In the mountains, the valley is in shadow while the surrounding hills and sky are still lit. I used a flash fill to light up the fence.
PP: adjust levels and curves to add a bit more light to entire photo, cloned out a stick weed, USM, adjusted curves for a bit more light. Photo shown is full frame -- shown without the sproket slots...:-)

Not sure how the meets the challenge of "Single Light Source"
06/05/2006 09:41:38 PM
DNMC. Sorry.
06/05/2006 06:34:45 PM
this is not artifical light, but it's a nice photo!
06/05/2006 04:03:23 PM
if you're shooting using sunlight, and also doing a flash fill, that isn't a single light source. going to have to say DNMC here.
06/05/2006 12:28:24 AM
dnmc?
06/04/2006 05:52:03 PM
Appeares to be more than one light source
06/04/2006 04:58:38 PM
May be flash fill but dang nabit, that sun is helping too much...
06/04/2006 03:13:53 PM
Counting the fill flash, at least two light sources here.
06/04/2006 01:34:06 AM
dnmc because the main light source is not artificial (as you say, it's only FILL flash)
06/03/2006 11:15:46 AM
Although you may be getting killed with DNMC because there is light in the sky (sun) and light from your flash (two sources)...I'm going to vote on the shot as is....

...good job...
06/03/2006 09:59:43 AM
Nice composition and perspective. I would have liked to see you use your artificial light in a way that would have added more to the photo...perhaps shooting when it was even darker out to emphasize the fill light.
06/03/2006 09:03:17 AM
SINGLE light source. Sun plus fill = 2
06/02/2006 06:31:10 PM
I think this should be a "single light source" not flash and daylight. Nice shot though.
06/02/2006 12:24:01 PM
Hmmm does this fulfill the brief??
06/02/2006 09:29:19 AM
Well, I'd guess the flash along with the sun would count as two light sources, but I'm not a stickler for stuff like that. But what I think you may have missed is the dramatic effects that can be created with a single light source.
06/02/2006 08:24:16 AM
not really a "single" light source is it?
06/02/2006 05:25:28 AM
Sun + flash sonds like two light sources?
06/01/2006 05:36:52 PM
Looks to be a nice place. However, the challenge was to use a single artificial light. I see from the title you used fill flash, but...
06/01/2006 02:24:01 PM
Okay, but if you used fill flash, then you had more than one light source...
06/01/2006 08:32:40 AM
I wonder how many DNMC this has got already...

Use a single, artificial light source to dramatically light the subject of your choice.
06/01/2006 05:35:56 AM
there are 2 light sources :)
06/01/2006 05:00:20 AM
You would of been within the rules if you just used your flash, only.
06/01/2006 03:02:58 AM
Sun + flash = 2 lightsources. One of which isn't artificial. Nice shot though.
05/31/2006 08:10:29 PM
This photo doesn't use the topic of the challenge with enough strength to do very well. The challenge topic needs to be VERY evident in the photograph.
05/31/2006 03:59:34 PM
Does this meet the challenge? I mean, it's real nice but there's a lot of natural light in there.
05/31/2006 03:22:03 PM
Need artificial lighting to meet challenge
05/31/2006 03:10:10 PM
This subject is lit by sunlight, not a "single, artificial light source."
05/31/2006 11:55:02 AM
can I borrow your flashlight, Mine went super nova
05/31/2006 07:31:09 AM
A pleasant picture, but the sun is a second (natural) light source.
05/31/2006 06:10:56 AM
The challenge requires an "artificial light source". this DNMC
05/31/2006 05:04:47 AM
I think just from the title of your photo, your image does not meet the challenge. Aside from that, there really is no clear cut focal point of this photo. My eye is attracted to the tree in the center of the composition against the blown out sky which I do not find interesting at all.
05/31/2006 01:38:12 AM
The light source for this challenge was supposed to be artificial.
