This is Svala Jonsdóttir, she has modeled for me before, for Fashion
in case someone recognizes her wich I find unlikely since she was wearing sunglasses in that shot.

Decreased saturation and increased contrast in raw conversion. Healing brush, hue/sat adjustment on the eyes to make them blue again (the reduced saturation almost left them colorless) and finally sharpened after resizing.

As for the lighting, I used a home made 220x100cm softbox for it. I say home made because I couldn´t afford the 200x100 softbox from Bowens so I improvised. Technically this is lit with 3 bowens heads, one in the middle with a 100x100 softbox and two 60x60 softboxes to each side to the big one. They were overlapping, set to the same power and facing the same direction, effectively giving off the same effect a 200x100 softbox would do. I was then standing between the softbox and Svala as close as the focusing distance of the 85mm lens would let me or about 80-90 cm and the softbox was directly behind me, my head was touching the middle one, the black shadow you see in the middle of the iris is me :) That means that the softboxes were just about 1 meter from her, therefore the backround (wich was pretty close) was blown out.

That means this image would have looked EXACTLY the same with a big 200x100 softbox, wether the self proclaimed lighting experts who doubted that believe it or not...

I love the motion in her hair. This is fabulous! The detail in her skin is awesome and I like that you explained your setup. I am going to try getting in front of a softbox now because I always have them to my side but then I can't get light as straight on as I want....awesome shot

Heh. So it WAS lit with a single (albeit compound) light source. Very good, sir. Well done.

Single light source? I mean for the subject AND the background?
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt anyways.
It's a good thing you didn't NI the hell out of it. Good luck on this. Yeah.

Lovely model, great pose and composition. I feel the lighting it just a bit to direct and harsh to do this lovely portait justice. A slightly less exposure level may have improved this image. Still a very nice photo, though.

Challenge related: The reflection in her eyes shows that there are multiple light sources. Looks to be at least 3 sources.

Technical: I initially rated this photo lower because of the challenge issue, but the fact is that this is a great photo. Great sharpness. The reflection in her eyes adds wonders to this photo. The technical aspect alone made me rate this photo higher than I would have.

Looks like multiple catchlights in the eyes, that's strange. What kind of light setup was it?

Nice portrait. I like her expression and the eyes.

Great image, but I'm having difficulty believing that this is a single artificial light (the catchlights in her eyes are oddly shaped and the quantity of light).

Nice pic, but not what I term single source. Yeah, it probably was coming out of very large lightbox or something, but isn't that akin to using overcast skies and claiming this was a single source too?

Are you sure you used a single light source here? It's a fantastic anyhow.

Super photo, really good. Was this an artificial single light source? There seems to be several light sources reflected in her eyes.

Has a certain something. Perhaps in the enigma of the expression.

Stunning photo but reflection in eyes is annoying and looks like multiple light sources.

beautiful model, my only suggestion would be to have softened the skin a bit

Beautiful model, with very dramatic eyes. Not clear how the single light source angle fits in.

nice catch lights in the eyes - they really draw you in (the eyes that is). Pose and composition well done.
