Great picture, actually like the black and white colors of it, would probably also look good in color. |

Greetings from the Critique Club!
First let me say this is kick ass! During the challenge I questioned why you went b/w for this challenge. Don't get me wrong, I love this image just the way it is but I figure you might want to make it more hot looking for the drive by voters. ;) Ok, enough of that and on to the critique.
Technicals:
Perfect. I am amazed at the level of detail you captured in the flame itself. It's so sharp and full of life. The translucent parts of the flame and the clarity is what makes this one sing.
Subject/composition:
Great subject captured splendidly. I also love how you composed the shot.
Improvements:
I wish I had some good suggestions here but I don't. For just the challenge I think you should have gone with a color version even if you had to add the color in post. Looking at the top ten it's even more clear to me now you shouldn't have gone b/w, which is a shame because this image is very hot as is, IMO. Congrats on a good score and even better image. |

Wow, that is some flame! Normally flames and B&W don't work but I think you made a bold and wise choice here, I think a colour shot would have lost some detail of the complexity of the flame. The finishing touch for me is the rather nonchalant look of the chef. A good luck bump of +1 |

Unusual to see a black & white for a flame.
I actually like it like this, colorless. appears more abstract |

By FAR the most impressive flame image in the challenge!I love that we get just a hint of the cook and the kitchen...I also love the fact that this is not in screeching color, again just the slightest hint of color...fantastic work! |

Hmm. A selective desaturation of everything but the flame may have been cool. But still, your heat is conveyed, great flame detail. 10. |

I did that once long ago.. my mother was not amused... outstanding catch on this shot. Amazing definition and the desat allows me to probe past the colors to the structure of this shot. I like it. |

the white smoke ( I doubt a flame from the shape of it) looks great in this b/w image... |
