 i had another idea - which will be a sequel to this photo.
but came up with this one while setting up the other shot...

i carefully heated a light bulb until i broke the vaccuum seal of the bulb. then i was able to melt the glass. this is a photo of the process. a propane torch, vice grips, and a light bulb.

PP involved a mask for:
the vice grips
the left side of bulb
the right side of bulb
the purple flame
the blue flame

each mask was edited using levels, curves, hue/saturation, dodge & burn.

auto color & auto contrast were run on a merged layer set.

sharpened full res image, create border, resize, sharpen again.

Oh yes, I want to try this :) I have seen many shots in this challenge that imho deserve to ribbon and have added this to my list (so you should be in the top ten lol) Good luck (bumping up 1)

Good creative take on the subject and good composition. One of my top scoring images in the challenge although I would perhaps have liked to see slightly brighter lighting.
