I don't know but I really like this. I keep humming the Beatles' song.
Nice frame. Yeah, there could be more negative space, but I hardly notice his feet. It's that face............. |

wow, the thick black frame is definitely a nice touch. I also like the DOF and the composition. only thing, just maybe a tad more space below the feet if you could have and a touch more detail on the bird. maybe you could mess a little with curves, or try USM (start with 25/60/0, and go from there, works wonders with landscapes, might work for this) nice photo, now I'm off to see the rest! |

I like the nice tight crop, and he really stands out against the background with the shallow depth of field. Some overexposure might help you get some more of the birds detail, black subjects are always difficult. But it also would of brightened up the background, maybe too much. I guess it depends on what you're going for, but being that close you probably want the detail.
Welcome to the site, it can be a lot of fun and very addictive during challenge voting. |

Your composition takes advantage of the diagonal space and the exposure brings out the detail of the birds feathers without blowing out the highlights. |

Perfect capture of this animal; his body has a lovely shape within the frame. |
