Kari,
I appreciate your critique of my image.
The subject is not a four-leaf clover, it is some tropical plant that had taken root in the back alley of a bar in Key West.
The image saturation was not edited...the brick sidewalk was definetly that red...and the plant was so close to the wall and the sun so bright that it's color reflected on the wall.
As for there being too much background...I felt that it was needed to let you realize it's small stature against the massive building.
I certainly appreciate your review, my explainations of the image is not because what you said upset me...I will keep them in mind.
thanks,
Hank |

::: Critique Club :::
Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
I think that this is a love it or hate it shot.
Composition:
This is the area I think that it lacks most. It is not working to any rule of photography that I know (and I don't know many) .. .and just seems like a little something in the courner of a whole big picture of a doorstep.
Subject:
It does say success ... even though I don't think it is a four leaf clover it is still a brave plant to grow in that little gap.
Technical (Colour and light):
The colours are over saturated with the red being too red. I think there is a little too much bakground in this shot and with a tighter crop on the growth it may have done better.
To grow its vote?:
You did ok ... keeep it up.
Summary:
A good safe shot .. you have a great eye for the unusual.
If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via
the PM system.
Cheers
Kari
So cool to have a response and it is amazing that the colours are natural .. I don't think I have ever seen any that are so crisp as these.
I appreciate your response ... and am always happy to hear from someone I have reviewed.
Cheers again
Kari

I like the natural occurance of this image and the colour contrast between the new leaves and old structure. Colours a bit over saturated to my taste, never the less I like the photo |

Definetly a successful little guy. Very well done. Nice colors and the textures are great. |

I like the contrast in textures and the "against the odds" example. |

Ah, the fortitude of Nature! Certainly proves the presence of an Intelligent Designer...at least to me.
I wish the green in the plant could be enhanced somehow. I think a Deep Green photo filter in PhotoShop would help & possibly even qualify for Basic Edit since it would be used over all the photo. Let me know if you try it. I would love to see the updated copy. :) |

don't like the angle of the shot i'm afraid, it's neither level nor a good enough angle to be more interesting - sorry |
