My first challenge here. Idea was to have Mr. Woody crushed by a winning trophy to denote failure. Used a crumpled aluminium foil for the background. Turned off the room lights and using warm light shining from front-right, I held a paper at the top-left to reflect some light unto the little Woody sitting on the trophy.

(GIMP) Post manipulations include levels, curve, and USM.

::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Size is important when creating an image, and working to the maximum size is best .. . try and get at least 640 on the long side to maximise the potential of a shot.

Composition:
Interesting woody and woody almost both of thirds.

Subject:
I really love this shot ... it is only the size that let it down to me.

Technical (Colour and light):
I like the creation of using the foil or the background of the shot.

To grow its vote?:
Think about size, think about impact and light. Think about the rule of thirds (google it) .. this will keep you on the way.

Summary:
Great first entry I am impressed .. imagination and an eye.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via
the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

Nice use of values but the concept is confusing.

I can still see a fair amount of detail, but it's still a bit too small. Interesting concept and nice lighting, but always try to use your full size parameters that DPC offers.
