Challenge: Self Portrait IV (Advanced Editing IV*)
Camera: Canon EOS-30D
Lens: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Location: Buckingham Twp., PA
Date: May 13, 2006
Aperture: f/2.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/25
Galleries: Self Portrait
Date Uploaded: May 17, 2006

I found out I wasn't very good at these self portraits - so I hid behind my cropping. (Then again, I tried for about 3 minutes to get a good self portrait, then threw in the towel).

I wanted to make this walk a fine line between too much glamour gaussian blurring and reality. (My gut feeling is that I over-stepped that line).

Love your eyes.. truly they are spectacular!!! The smooth skin all around is distracting a bit.. not so much that yer eyes didnt stand out to me tho!!! Stop hiding behind cropping!! nice work

good call...yeah you overstepped a little. the trick I use occasionally on the more...um...experienced faces is to dupe a layer on top, blue it, then erase the parts that need to stay sharp, like eyebrows and stuff.

although looking at the sharpness of your eyes it looks like maybe you did that already, so never mind :P

The eyes in this shot are absolutely great and I wish they were more dominant. The blank forehead isn't very interesting, but it dominates the shot. I think I'd like this shot even better if it were cropped into a panoramic shot. The catchlights in they eyes are great and the focus is right on.

Great eyes. Men need Neat Image like a centipede needs to tie its shoelaces.

Pretty eye color, but totally overoard on the Neat Image. Also, it helps to make a conscious effort to relax your forehead and eyebrows when taking an eye shot like this.

Sharp eyes, looks like a lot of NI on the skin, but that's not a bad thing.

the forehead looks a little overneatened e.g. too much neat image .. either than or you are really young and those lines are just beginning .. and if so ... good going!.

Those eyes are fantastic, such lovely flakes of color, but that is some seriously processed skin. I think a different crop could be much more flattering to the forhead, this kind of gives it the allusion of being..well huge.

I don't really like the softening of the brow. The eyes are really intense and the softening distracts my attention from them.

This image gives me the impression that you have a huge forhead. The first thing that comes to mind....coneheads. LOL No offense. Great details and color in the eyes.

too much forehead, would look better cropped tighter or centered lower
gorgeous eyes, though

wow, incredible work on the eyes, not sure about the crop choice, keep looking more and more at the blurry forhead

Would have been more striking had the forehead been cropped a little.

Wow - great eyes. How did you get them both in focus, with your nose blurred? That's one intense expression!!!
