 Thank you all for your comments. This is my second highest scoring challenge I have entered to date.

I took this photo from the 16th floor balcony of the place that I work. The camera was held as far out over the balcony as I could reach without falling. The Lens Cap was approximately 16" from my lens. It was held in place by 4 strands of monofiliment fishing line taped to the Cap and Lens Hood. It was a windy day and the cap kept blowing out of the shot. I wanted it out farther from the building, but with my lens at 27mm, this was the best I could do. I have been out of the challenges for a while, but kept checking back to the site. I like the creative challenges, and this one seemed to call to me. I almost didn't make the deadline as I only remembered I needed to edit and submit 15 minutes before deadline. Due to time very few editing steps were taken: Opened with CS2, adjusted levels, might have tweaked color balance a bit, unsharp mask, save for web. No cropping, frame is how it came out of camera. My shot was accepted at 23:59:47 on the last day. Whew! 13 seconds to spare!

To answer some of the questions raised during voting:

1. No, this is not a picture of a Lenscap sitting on a monitor or printed picture. The cap is 16 floors above the ground, hanging in the air.

2. No, I didn't actually drop the cap.

3. Yes, it does follow basic editing guidelines.

4. Hmmm, I think I did fool quite a few! (Maybe even you!)

5. No pedestrians were killed in the taking of this photograph.

6. The shot is staged. I tried not to have the cap facing in a staged manner, but alas, I have failed. It was quite windy, I was lucky to get any pictures!

7. The cap was not trimmed in any manner. It is an actual LensCap suspended in the air. ;-)


Thanks again for all the great comments! I think this challenge has given me the inspiration to start entering challenges again.

I thought this building looked familiar. Great photo!! Very creative! It's still hard to believe this was with basic editing. I'm glad you submitted it in time and very happy to hear that it inspired you to enter more challenges.

Shame on me. You did manage to fool me! Sure looks like a photograph of a lenscap on a print. Maybe if it had some motion blur or was tilted like it was spinning on its way down. It just appears too static. (Hope I'm helpful now.)

Let me bet your idea: You take a picture of this view, print it, or view it in your notebook screen. Then put the cap there and photographed it. I´m right?
