 It hit 85 degrees here in May - that\'s HOT for this neck of the woods. My kids had a blast \'posing\' for this one. (and laughing at me sprawled in the dirt trying to shoot up at them in order to get sky as the background - which wasn\'t easy considering we live in the land of many trees). I waffled back and forth on cropping in tight on just my daughter, or leaving in my son, who was holding the hose on her.

cropped a bit,adjusted curves, and did usm after resizing.

Wa-hey... why the low score? I just don't get people... this was one of your best shots, maybe even the best.
The water's mid-air freeze and your kid's expression made this shot, IMO. Nice vibrant colours, too.
Should've scored higher.
Personally, I'd go for a tighter, vertical crop -- cutting off the hose and some of your girl's body. A little sharpening would've helped, too, I guess.

First Impression: very funny and well done shot
Composition: very good.
Subject: very accurate to the challenge.
Technical: very good focus on her, the speed is good for freezing the water, colors are nice
Improvement: maybe you could play with selective colors to achieve a bluer blue on the sky.
Summary: Very good job, should have scored better IMO

Hey Margie -

I am actually surprised this scored so low. I don't normally divulge what I scored any image, but seriously? I scored this one an 8. I thought it was a fantastic depiction of heat. The girl's expression is perfect, the suspended water is great. I even like the off-center crop. The light is a bit harsh, and that was just about all I had to criticize here. Perhaps a bit of Unsharp Mask might punch this up a bit?

The sky is a bit noisy here but a great capture, nice composition but am not sure about the hose/bottle in the shot? a great summertime shot (bumping to a seven)

What a refreshing image. The only thing I would do is crop out the end of the hose on the left creating even more negative space to the left which wouldn't hurt a thing IMO. Great job!

This shows cool more than heat although she probably was hot. But 7 for creativity plus the girls is very cute

HEE HEE - I thought of doing something similar. I like it. Great stop action. I might adjust levels to up depth of the sky color, but otherwise, well done.
