"Critique Club"

"Securing Freedom" is a wonderful addition into the Self Portrait challenge. I am a little surprised you didn't place higher, I really thought it would during voting.

Overall I personally love the piece. I think you did an excellent job of placing your subject based on the rule of thirds and allowing the light to shine through.

The time of day must have been optimal for this shot, and placing the sun directly behind your head was a great idea. The only thing I can think of is maybe the voters didn't like how dark the image got towards the bottom of the photo but that was one of the things I liked.

I wish I had more to say but I personally think you did an exceptional job!

What I like most about this image is how there is a documentary feel incorporated into the portrait to communicate the subject's personality. I think the image's simplicity works very well overall and the backlight is quite compelling. Great shot!

Not even the media could have captured the intensity of this photograph. This soldier is alert and ready to help defend those that need his help. I pray this person can stay out of harms way.
