Excellent capture of light and texture. Compositional elements are excellently controlled - you've made the square crop work well, which is not a straightforward thing. I like it. I'd perhaps have taken the contrast a bit further myself - to make more of the difference of those grey tones.

Great composition. Would have liked to see all the neck.

I always think it's a great way to make a portrait of an artist: have him blend right into his work. 8.

I expect to see the face of the subject of a portrait. This shot seems more about the wall than the painter to me.

The patterns in the paint give this photo some interest. For me, portraits are a little more effective when the subject/model is making eye contact with the camera/viewer--though I can see how that would be more difficult to do in this case.

Would like to see more of the subject, given that it's a portrait.

Nice conceptual photo - but the portrait component is diminished because the face of the painter is not visible.

Great composition with him tucked into the corner there and with the abstract shapes and grey tones of the wall making up the rest of the composition.

nice comp, but need to know the subject to truly be an environmental portrait.

I sense this as more candid than a portrait, since he isn't looking at you. Maybe I'm too picky.
