What made me stop and look? The appeal (for me) in the photo is that the people are in groups of two or more. I don't think the shot would draw as many views otherwise. The composition is good and the hazy depth is a key element. Nice work. |

looks lie something one would see in a movie about some mass fatal disease and these are survivors( like in Stephen kings "the stand") this is a very emotive shot IMHo but I do watch way too many scary moves lately ;o)

Edit to add: I would do a slight levels/black adjustment because your people look a bit dark grey instead of black

If you hadn't identified the location, I would have guessed Iraq or some such sad place. It looks sort of arid and the people look, just as you say, like lost souls - refugees. It requires more of the viewer's imagination than it supplies.
