What could be called a "Throw Away Shot" has become one of my favorites. Taking pictures in Myrtle Beach SC I had the sun at my back. I was finishing up and turned to head back to the hotel. As I did I saw this and snapped a couple of shots into the sun and haze.
I did have to clone out two work cranes on the buildings in the distance but that was it.

What made me stop and look? The appeal (for me) in the photo is that the people are in groups of two or more. I don't think the shot would draw as many views otherwise. The composition is good and the hazy depth is a key element. Nice work.

looks lie something one would see in a movie about some mass fatal disease and these are survivors( like in Stephen kings "the stand") this is a very emotive shot IMHo but I do watch way too many scary moves lately ;o)

Edit to add: I would do a slight levels/black adjustment because your people look a bit dark grey instead of black

I thought it was India before I read where it really is.

Yummy. Like going into a dream. I really like it.

If you hadn't identified the location, I would have guessed Iraq or some such sad place. It looks sort of arid and the people look, just as you say, like lost souls - refugees. It requires more of the viewer's imagination than it supplies.
