Tulip found outside church while shooting for Holy challenge. Only one that really still had it's shape and colors intact.

Ok just to clear the air and everyone thinking I'm a total idiot and don't know what a portrait is...which I do.

I was shooting for the Holy challenge and while uploading my image (which was later pulled becuase I thought it was too plain) I saw the environmental portrait challenge and decided I would enter this image. Well I saw "environmental portrait" details, read a little of one post about it and just thought portrait of something in it's natural enviroment...never did I stop to think about the actual meaning of portrait being of a person or read more about it. I get tired of all the thread debating what the details mean so I don't usually pay a lot of attention to them...guess I should have.

This is my lowest score ever and while it did deserve it due to not following all the details I do wish so many had not discussed it as if I was an idiot during the challenge. I had commented in the threads more than once that I had a DNMC entry by mistake and had even considered self-DQ but still the comments about flowers not being a portrait continued.

On the plus side my (worse quality) self-portrait is doing better than any I've ever submitted and had I thought of it earlier it would have been executed better and probaby scored even higher.

IMO a portrait should include a person (or perhaps an animal). Even if this was to be a portrait of a flower its environement has not been included. As for the shot itself, I think different lighting could have added interest.

I'm sure you are being hammered by DNMC comments. I find the flwoer lacking a bit in clarity. It's just a touch to soft for me. Nice use of bokeh

And this meets the challenge because?????

Photograph a portrait that says something about the subject within the framework of their own environment.
