Background just looks too smooth and artificial for my tastes. The DOF seems slightly in the wrong place too.

Great photo, never heard the saying before. Probably would have worked a lot better as fishing for compliments with a compliment written on the paper.

Lovely shot. I like the bold background color choice and the pinsharp focus. Technically excellent but it feels a little like a stock photo shot. 8
