My first catch of lightening! It was so exciting to capture! Could definately be a better capture, but hey, it IS lightening and it fell during the challenge.

With all the severe weather that effected the southern region this week, I do expect to see more images of the same - lightening, damages, etc. I am wondering if anyone caught any of the tornados as well. That would be AWESOME, and another big hope of mine someday to capture.

My best to the winners! I really doubt seriously this is even a top ten shot (I'm predicting a 5.3 final - or maybe a more realistic 5.0..LOL), as I have seen some spectacular lightening shots in the past, but I simply had to enter it! It was too exciting for me as a capture to just let it sit in a folder. LOL...

not photojournalism. an interesting abstraction, however.

I would never let this run in my paper.

as a lightning photograph, I find this somewhat underwhelming. As a photojournalistic photograph, I don't understand it to tell any story.

highly unlikely to see this on a front page, unless it's a REALLY SLOW news day. this could also use some work on its processing.

would have liked this better ifn the lightning was going to the ground. it would have added a "fear factor" to the image.

I think this would work better if the skyline showed something recognizable about the region. This could be a shot from any area.

Almost works. Most editors would want a bit more of the surroundings to give the viewer a sense of where.
