Hi, as requested, here is an indepth critique of your submission.
First Impression - the most important one:
Strong image with nice color.
Composition:
I think it's strong and it works well for your subject.
Subject:
Stands out well against the yellow background. The comp colors works great.
Technical (Color, focus, and light):
Color is great. Focus is sharp. However, I think the shadow is a bit harsh on the bottom side of the flower. A bit of softening of the shadow with a reflector IMO would help.
To grow its vote?:
Undoutably, and unfairly, you probably got popped a bit by those that don't like flower shots. Not a lot you can do about that. Overall, you did well in scoring though.
Summary:
Great photo for this challenge. It's colorful and rather lovely.

| Generally I like the composition and there is good detail in the flower, but I find the texture in the yellow background distracting and the yellow a bit too bright to the point it overwhelms the subtle coloring of the calla. I think it would benefit from some cropping to lessen the impact of the yellow, but if it were to be done again, I would pick a softer shade of yellow for the background (or adjust it accordingly in PS or whatever). |

| Simple and elegant. I wonder if you worked on the yellow with a selective adjustment and removed the cyan. It has a touch of green in it. The clarity and focus is good. I like the diagonal line the lily creates going across the shot. 7 |

| 7 - Nice, and simple. 'If only' less green, but difficult and fairly minor. Like the simplicity. Perhaps a little more space above, or just variation in framing/composition, may have given this a little extrra, not sure. Also like to see a little more detail in the texture of the calla and less on the 'yellow base'. |

| Very nice focus and lighting but I think it needs to be cropped much tighter as there is way too much stem included for this challenge. |

| This is a gorgeous shot. If I had to nitpick ;-) I'd prefer the crop to exclude more of the green to allow the yellow/purple to come into the foreground more..... |
