This image was taken around several historic homestead buildings located in Springfield MO. Windows give us a view of the world from both sides; I wanted to convey to the viewer a glimpse of the old world from the outside looking in. The old pine topped chair is waiting for the owner to return to do its job of providing a place to rest after a long day of working the fields.

Shot in RAW format.
Using Photoshop.
Changed Brightness by -13 and increased Contrast by +9.
Used the Burn tool at 75% midtones to bring out the detail in the weathered window frame.
Cropped, resized image to 640 x 453, 100 pix/inch.
Applied Sharpening tool.

I would say at least in the top 6 pictures.

I guess if I'd had a pretty womans butt in the window instead of the chair it might have made a huge difference. Thanks for the wonderful comments. We live in a complexed world therefore I imagine our photography has to be complexed. I've just a simple man that enjoys the simple things in life. The top 10 images were spectacular to say the least, and there were several I was suprised didn't get higher rankings.

As far as photo quality and technically shot well there is not much wrong hereâ€Â¦as far as appeal it is lacking a bit. But after reading your comment I can see where you took this and the lack of appeal or boredom might just be what you were going for. Me looking at it and thinking how I would feel in that spotâ€Â¦but for someone in that time it probably brought much enjoyment, even when they were doing nothing. Think that has a lot to say on how fast life is now than then and why it’s hard to just sit still and enjoy idle time.

Nice but nothing really that makes me want to give more or less than a 5.

A fresh look at what is presumably a familiar chair. Composition doesn't quite feel balanced to me though.

I might have cropped a little more to further enhance the detail.

I like the old paint of the window, against the fairly new look of the chair back. Nice contrast in textures.

I like this composition, and the focus is crisp. I thnk shift your position a bit would remove that brown house reflection and make this shot even better. The grass reflects nicely, but the house draws too much attention. Nice shot overall.
