Thanks for the comments. It's an Eastern Redbud (at least according to the sign by the tree), and the buds were actually coming off the main part of the trunk - this was the largest cluster, much lower than where the tree started branching and had most of its flowers and leaves.

I agree that the highlights on the flowers are a problem - hadn't thought about it in terms of overall overexposure but that definitely makes sense looking at it now. I also see the focus issues. I'll have to look back through some of the other pictures I took of it to see if they work better in those areas.

Nice texture and color, but no overall cohesion.

Nice colour flower and nice soft background. I think the buds are a bit soft on focus and the light on one side is a bit harsh.

Pretty flowers. Bad lighting and focus.

Cercis or Judas Tree, I presume. A lovely sign of spring. The colloquial name implies an association with new life at Easter.

A nice shot, unfortunately there seems to be too much light on the pink buds which causes a loss of detail. I like the diagonal lines of the tree trunk and the out of focus background.

This is pretty soft. Lighting is very harsh...especially bottom right.

Subject is overexposed. Recomend shooting quicker or a smaller apature. Since this was advanced editing you could have shot so that none of the subject was over exposued and used a slight dodge to brighten up the other side of the branch.

I'm a bit neutral on this one. It's nice but it doesn't blow my socks off, so to speak.
