I routinely go for tours in several landmarked districts here where I live, all pre-revolutionary sites, this reminds me of the basket maker's house. This photos is processed very well and fits the theme too, it has an old finish to it. Great lighting.

Very Vermeer-like lighting - objects seem to glow from within.

Hello from the Critique club. I think this is a well done and nicely posed and framed photo. The antique and painting feel of this works extremely well. The coloring of the photo seems extremely lifelike and well done. There are a few things I think could be changed to make it score even better then it did. Although the colors are nice the photo seems a bit flat bumping the contrast up with levels and curves adjustment would make the photo POP which seems to be required to score in the top 10 here on DPC. Focus on the face is a touch soft. The antique feel while wonderful in my book seems to be working against you with the voters. The other thing that I can think of is that its not truly a studio Portrait but more of a well done snapshot. Had this been in a different challenge I think it would have scored even better and placed better as well. Overall well done and a good placement considering the challenge.

Thanks to everybody for fine comments.
The workflow from to the one submitted inlcuded:
1) Fairly heavy NoiseNinja because my P&S is pretty noisy at ISO200.
2) Curves to increase mid-tone contrast.
3) Slight overall saturation in Hues
4) Extra boost to the Reds in Hues to bring out the colour of the dress
5) Burn around the edges of the image and the headdress
6) Dodge arround the face
5) Crop, resize, USM & SFW

Like others have said I can't believe this didn't score higher. This is exquisite. Like a painting but yet so real. The coloring is perfect for the setting. This is art!

Very well done. Beautiful lighting arrangement and all the rest to get a Dutch master effect. As a portrait, maybe all the other stuff that's going on in the picture detracts from the subject and the handling and presentation of her. Either way it's a lovely picture and superbly done.

Very good and very thoughtful.
The lighting in this photo is just very good.
I am not one of the guys about 'rule of 2 3rd' or 'rule f 1 3rd' (whatever it is), but it seems to be working fine in this composition. The subject is well accentuated. Good work over all.

Definiely appeciate the effort here. Might be a bit too much light for my taste in this kind of shot, but overall I love it.

Its obvious a lotof work went into setting up the props and costume. Really like the lack of lighting on background. Just a touch of glare o a few pottery pieces, but overall definitely deserves a top 3 finish. My personal favourite Great job!!

Is this really a photo? Or a painting? Nice work, whatever you did to process this image really worked beautifully, the feel of it is so old-painting-esque that it's incredible.

It is more of a genre painting than a classical portrait, but a great stylization nonetheless.

Lovely colors and tones in the setting. Her expression doesn't seem to fit and seems awkward, though.

Beautiful - looks like a painting. VERY NICELY DONE! I'm not sure how well this will vote compared to some of the other images in the challenge - but I can tell you this: This picture belongs on the wall! It is not just a picture, it is a work of art - from the lighting, to the setting, to the placement of the objects on the table. Beautifully done.

Returning to say: This is my pick for the blue.
