This is so good. Why didn't it rate higher? Hmmmm - people are dumb. ha ha I think it's really well done. The closeness to the subject was a risk and I think you did great with it. |

I love the stare in his eyes (hence the appropriate title). There seems to be a slight green tone in his skin that offsets the color in my opinion. Otherwise a great shot. |

Very intense portrait. There are other shots where the subject is looking at the camera, but this one really just draws you in. |

Excellent composition.
it just seems to me you did a little too much Neat Image & Sharpening. |

For my taste the pp on this one is overdone, the guy looks like a bit like wax-sculpture. The eyes, skin and the facial hair is all a bit too unreal. The focus and lighting is good. |

The composition is excellent, I couldn't have hit it better myself, really a cool crop, respect on that! And as you already know there comes a BUT now, Sorry. The skin tones hit the image very well (that wasn't the BUT part though). Here it comes: The softness, NeatImage or whatever it was you used, is a touch to exaggerated, esecially if you look at the area just between the eyebrows, just a bit too plastic you see? And also the eye whites are a bit too "overwhite". I would have taken out a little of the white so one could still see a tiny bit of texture in there. The little red veins are bothersome I know, but it is still okay to see a little of them, kind of faded out a touch. But overall, the processing is good, I see you put a lot of work into this. |

I like the low catchlights and tight crop on the face. I think he has an interesting beard, though, and would have liked to see more of his chin. The skin looks a little over processed, but it doesn't detract from a great portrait. |
