Sorry, this is gonna be a stream of random thoughts rather than anything proper. Struggling to catch up last entries before rollover. Will be better next week :)
I really like the grungy atmosphere, suits the subject well (although there is a danger now of it being done too often). The vignetting works well with this style, and the colours are nice and rich.
However, the teddy itself doesnt' really look that old or abandoned, partly 'cause of the lighting/dodging. Maybe if it were hanging off the end of the bench of something...not sure. Maybe just a bit darker (the teddy not the picture) and it would work.

firstly, i did not vote on thiis challenge.
with that in mind i am thinking that it does not really "appear" old. i read your notes on the photo (which those scoring could not read) and found that it is actually very old.... to you.
i love the green colors and the photo is pretty cute overall no real technical problems.
great photo, but ifn i were scoring it i would not see that it was really all that old and would have given a 5 or 6 because of that. |

I think this is a great photo, composition and lighting is really good, but I think the background could use a bit of desat, the green color is overwelming.
this is a good subject for the challenge, a small tear in the teddy might have made this look even more real.
the only thing I find distracting is the tree on the left, either put the whole tree in the image, or crop it all out.

I think you've done a great job in post on this image. Everything seems perfectly saturated to me, with a slight vignetting that you may have added by burning that really enhances your composition. The subject is placed perfectly in the environment, adding the right amount of interest, and engaging the background well.
With a background such as this, there is a danger of a "busy" composition. In my opinion, you have somehow mostly avoided that; the evenness of the elements on the ground, and the reflected colours and textures in the treetrunks and the bench planks, makes it work. The bear's yellow adds the touch of difference to this composition that adds the right amount of interest and variety. Had you done more with hue/sat in post to emphasise this tension, the effect may have been powerful. Overall, well done! |

This shot is very appealing - because it implies a story. It is easy to imagine the events that led to the "lost" bear. From a photographic point of view I like the tones of the bench and bear. Detail is well-recorded in both. And since they are the primary subject that is important. When I look around, though, it seems to me that the plants have been over sharpened in post-processing (at least on my monitor). A somewhat softer background might work even better. IMHO. |

Well, you exceeded the score you hoped for so I guess you're happy. I didn't vote in this challenge but I probably would have considered the bench old, but not the teddy. Things that are well maintained hardly ever put out that impression. But the shot on it's own (meaning without a challenge to consider)is beautiful and something that I would hang in a child's bedroom for art. The photo seems to have a story bookish feel to it. It tells me a story, or I could make a story to go with it. So congrats! I think that it would sell well if you decided to make it a print. |

I really have no idea why this one didn't finish better. Perhaps not enough happy color for the DPC masses. Nice composition and excellent lighting. Perhaps a closer crop and the elimination of the dead limbs low on the left would have polished it up a bit, but overall a very nice shot. |

Very impressed with the editing here! Also horribly envious of the lush greenery. Both the bear and the bench do look old to me, and all that lush, new greenery serves as a nice contrast. |

Another nicely done photo, Tim. The bench looks really old but didn't realize the teddy was so old. The green below the bench really adds to the "old" look of the bench. I like the composition, many people would have included the whole bench, but in my opinion this works much better. Well done |

I really like this shot, and gave it an 8, even though I'm not a "grunge" look fan. |

Awesome shot. This is a great composition. I am little turned off by the processed look, but at the same time it really dramatizes the image. Good shooting! |

The bear look a little to new. It can't have been sitting on that bench for such a long time. Nice photo anyway. 7 |
