Could've done with a not so manky sky, but I was rushed! Last time I tried to shoot this tree I had to scarper from the farmer.

I've heard the S602Z goes well with butter and chives ... bon appetite!

Hmm, no ribbon:( I'm gonna have my camera for dinner today now.
I agree with Pedro about the sky. I also wanna add, that I really don't think there is any need for the texture of the tree being visible. The tree's shape and it's placement in the landscape are important in this image, not it's texture.

Thanks for the comments everyone, it's been a nervous week! Just trying to find out about histogram and soft focus now :).

Great shot Alastair. I disagree - I think the sky is perfect; sets a definite mood amongst the other colours. good work.

This tree could do much better if you adjusted histogram and used soft filter, also you could go higher quality up to 140 KB!

cool shot

Great shot - lovely take on the challenge. Tree is a bit too silhouetted and I yearn for a bit more texture and definition. A bit of fill flash would perhaps have remedied that. [8]

Great capture...excellent colors and the gray sky works well.
08/10/2003 09:05:21 PM
I like the colors in this photo.
08/09/2003 06:53:03 PM
Saweet find!! I think enhancing the coloring would make this picture stand out that much more.

My only 10 of this challenge. Good colours and great contrast.

Good Luck

Where did you find that??
08/09/2003 06:17:54 AM
more like...badly broken. good eye though! a little more light and saturation would have worked for me more. 6

Great photo, nice composition and fits the topic. But, perhaps color is a bit dull.
08/08/2003 06:59:45 AM
A natural right angle, nice.....
08/07/2003 09:08:04 PM
I think this picture would look really good in b&w. Composition is very nice.
08/07/2003 04:21:02 PM
Not quite a right angle, but close enough to get my vote.

What an unusual subject. It would be interesting to find out how it got that way: lightening, wind, really heavy birds??? I liked this entry.
08/07/2003 09:13:34 AM
very nice image

More than freak this appears to have been struck by lightening - Nice picture

Great content and composition and very quirky idea. Though I like the edge of darkness in the clouds I think this is let down by lighting - there just isn't enough light on the tree and foliage for my liking and a little more natural light would bring out the zingy yellows too. Nice image though and an unusual and creative challenge interpretation.

crop a bit on the top and enhance the middtones (or change to BW)

Great title...nice find!

What a 'wow' luuuuvvv it! 10

This tree looks like it's been through the lightning wars. Great natural shot. It's too bad the clouds have very little detail though the yellow on the ground carries this image. Maybe showing a touch more of the ground would give the image more impact. 7

I'm sure you are very proud of this shot, because it's perect!
If this one is not gonna win a ribbon I'll eat my camera :)

Nice shot of a perfect item for this challenge. This would work better with the sky having more color to it, but then luck is needed when taking the picture.
08/06/2003 09:51:22 AM
for some reason, i really like your title. image a bit muddy, but nice tree. :o)
08/06/2003 08:17:39 AM
Great shot. Looks freaky, yet serene.
08/06/2003 07:44:04 AM
Hmm...this appears to be a left angle...
08/05/2003 11:13:39 PM
excellent location and you shot the pic at the right time with the right sky! 10.
