::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
My dad types like this .. it is cuter when this little one does it!!

Composition:
This is a really well balanced shot and the reflections from the screen are just magic against her face.

Subject:
Meets the challenge to me .. to some it doesn't ... but kids are really easy to get candids from as with this one she is sooooo increadibly focused on her challenge she probably never knew you were there.

Technical (Colour and light):
This is lovely .. one of the ones that does work as black and white .. but because of the subject colour would be fine as well ... as mentioned that reflection from the screen works wonders ... and the window behind hasn't blown too much.

To grow its vote?:
you played it well this time ... "oh my how cute vote" :) The percentage you got was great due to the amount of entries ...

Summary:
keep it up candids are hard and this is really good.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

Today I have been working on photographs from the 1950's. Many of those were about schoolchildren photographed in their '50s school environment. This looks very much like those, there's only this huge leap in technics. Instead of a table with an inkwell I now see a laptop. :)
Great shot, thanks for sharing.

The ultimate in cuteness. Not your fault, she's just cute. :) The lighting makes the shot. You did well in the B&W conversion. Frame is heavy for me but who cares. Composition well done. 8 whoops - bump to 9

I'm not much for receiving or giving comments, but since Candids are near and dear to my heart, I have decided to give comment on every entry in this challenge.

Children are way too easy and prime targets for candids. No one need step out of a comfort zone to get them and could get a million shots of them a day. This one is good. It does have good tones and is cute. It is out of focus though, and to me would fair better in a b/w challenge then as a candid. For me, its a 4 vote. More focus on the face and less on the hands would have been better.
