 I am definitely a portrait photographer, and as hard as I try, none of my candid pictures look "right" to me, so I am hoping the emotion in the picture will carry me into a better voting range than my last one. Thanks to everyone - this is an awesome community.

Way to go Jen! This definitely scored much better. Good shot I must say. Just for future reference, you can adjust curves, leves, etc. under the Basic Editing Rules to help brighten up pictures that are a tad on the darker side. Another cool little tool that most people use that is legal under the basic editing rules is a program called NeatImage. You can download it at www.neatimage.com and you can download the Noise Profile for you specific camera. If you have questions about that program, just do a search in the forums or make a forum post on it. There are a TON of helpful people here. BTW, I hereby challenge you to both the Negative and Complimentary Colors Challenges. Do you accept?

a true candid. thought i would see more of this. great job, a little dark though. just a hint of level adjustment i think would work.

I don't usually like comments or give them, but since candids are near and dear to my heart, I have decided to comment on every photo in this challenge.

This is ok. A typcial shot at any wedding. Nice to see a photo that exudes a story and emotion at the same time, but a bit too typical of the surrounding circumstance to get this type of candid. It's a 5 from me.
