You know, I saw this one in the thumbs and I thought it was quite cute. You have some good things going for it; the lighting (not shot at midday) and the subject. I may have cropped more of the dog into the pictures he is the real subject (even though the human is the one jumping). Perhaps it would improve things if the grass was entirely sunny instead of having the top band of shade. I also think it is a tiny bit OOF. The 20D may have chose to focus on a patch of grass just behind. at 1/640 you shouldn't have camera shake and that should be plenty to freeze the motion. 6.3 is close to the middle for that lens and so shouldn't be causing trouble either. My guess is the focus plane is slightly in front of the subjects. |

You were robbed my friend... this deserves a much higher placement. Congrats on having an original idea and managing to get a great photo out of it.
