Lovely image - however I would have like to see less of a tight crop - more feet and the edge of the umbrella. Maybe it would have more impact if it was actually croped square.

One of the three 10 I rated out of 397 so far. Great expression, framing. I love the adult gloves. All that protection and a sudden wind gust unravels all. Well done1

Feels posed, not candid.

If this is a true candid (meaning not setup), it's a wonderful capture of a funny moment. Worthy of being in a frame in your home somewhere. If you did set this up - kudo's for putting all of the elements together to compose a very nice image. Great job, and good luck in the challenge.

Excellent timing. Crop works even though he has no feet - it enhances the tension in this image. His posture is perfect. Tones well done. 9

I don't usually like comments or give them, but since candids are near and dear to my heart, I have decided to comment on every photo in this challenge.

This is ok. Kind of tells a bit of a cute story. Better than a lot of candids entered in my opinion, but still not one of the best. I give it a 6.

Kid with an umbrella really goes well with the dpc audience. The picture is clean, crisp and well compositioned. I don't know if this is a candid moment or a setup moment. Think dpc'ers might think this is a set up shot and mark it down for that. But I like it a lot and don't know if it is a setup up or a real candid. Great job and good luck :)

I think this could really have some impact if you adjusted levels or curves to give the depth of tones a boost. It seems a tad washed out to me. I like his placement in the shot and the striped umbrella is a great touch. 7

Personally, I feel that borders other than black or white are very distracting...especially since the color kind of matches the grass, and it's a little awkward-looking. Otherwise, I really love this shot...you've captured a really nice moment, the strength of the wind is very evident and the very shallow DOF is extremely effective.

I'm not voting this challenge, but good luck :)

Perfect shot! The too-big umbrella and gloves give an interesting humor to this one. :) A definite favorite for me!
