I liked this general shot and processing. Unfortunately, time is short, and this is the quick processed version!
Post Challenge Update: Thought I should explain this. These are actually the yellow gates of Lock 7, part of the old Erie Canal and a still functioning lock on the Mohawk river in Niskayuna, NY.
I've shot here before (see my Where's Waldo entry). I went there with the idea of shooting the gates of heaven or hell (tried that as a portfolio shot once, "the Gates of Yell"), but this time some grafitti artist had painted "Life" on the walls near the doors, which added new interest for me and a new title.
Processed this using the draganizer action, but not quite all the way through, so less grungy.

Very neat dramatic image, the highlight of which for me is the graffiti. Without considering your title, it adds a bit of mystery to the whole thing that makes me want to look more. I like the frame-up, and the angle splits it into interesting shapes via the bridge, wall, and various other structures. About the post-processing, I think the burning you've apparently done is well executed, but the haloing, resulting from sharpening, as well as, possibly, a lighter touch to the burning in certain areas, gives the whole thing away. This would be at the top of the gates, and at the bridge. Otherwise a cool photograph, well done.
I think this is great neil, atmosphere and the darkness really go well here, the life on the side is such a great touch and I love how you used it in your title.
Nice moody shot. The only possible problem with it is that the right and upper parts of the structure are totally black, and it would be nicer if they still had some texture similar to the left part. Either way, the score is way lower than it deserves.
