 Well, for starts, I don't have a marco lens... It's on the short list, but I'm not there yet... best I could do was my 70-200, which magnifies to someting like 1:4.... and this is a 100% crop... Must have Macro Lens... =]

This is a salt can I found in our cupboard. It's always got salt on the top and looks sort of cool. At least I think it does... lol.

Post was quick. crop to 640x640, levels, convert to greyscale, convert to duotone, add border, usm, save for web (at 50%! =[)

either the flash burnt out the salt, or your aperture was way down
