This is an overfilled zippo lighter caught at the moment the lighter sparked and lit the fluid fumes in the lid creating the blue flame. This only took me about 15 tries to catch. as soon as hubby lit his lighter and i saw how it lit i was like a kid in a candy store "Ooooo...do it again...do it again" as i grabbed up my camera and began setting it up for the shot.

I have another version done in advanced editing which will be put up for print after the challenge. The blue flames look better in that version.

maybe this will do well. I happen to like this one very much also but Its all a learning experience through trial and error. I see "too dark" comments in my future for this one...we shall seeeeee :o)

Interesting, but really nothing I can 'grab on to.' It doesn't give me a sense of anything. Maybe if it were cropped to just the colors - all the black just makes it smaller (an less important) than it really needs to be. Very interesting but not something that holds my attention long.

I gave this a 6. Liked the colors against the darkness and the movement of the sparks/flames/fire. If these were all more vivid with more clarity (difficult), nudge rotate up on the left (maybe), variation in placement/composition and perhaps less empty space (especially to create a more 'macro' effect) likely have made this even better in my opinion. A more finely tuned crop on the left too.

I would say this is underrated. I like it.
