My best imitation of:

My daughter's PrismaColor pencils. I tried to pick the same colors, and arrange them in the same order as Librodo's blue ribbon shot. It looks like I didn't get a perfect match. I also went for the same angle. I had to rotate the photo to get close to that. My lighting is different, so I had to do a little burning to kill the glare of highlights on the gold pencil. My center is not quite as round. I even tried to emulate the DOF, even though he got a few comments about that being a drawback. The one thing I did get exact is the photo dimensions of 640x461. Do I expect the 7.058 score he got? Heck no! I'll take anything over a 5.3 and be happy (okay, that's a lie).

Shot in my basement on black felt with a 1000 watt Sears worklight, through a white umbrella.

In PSCS2:
rotate
crop
resize
levels
shadow/highlight
hue/saturation
burn highlights
cloned/healed some spots
exposure
USM

This is THE most fun I have ever had with a challenge. This was the fourth different ribbon winner I attempted, but was always my first choice. How some of the original ribbon winners were done with basic editing, I'll never know.

You know what? I find your pic better than my original. No kidding. More crisp....mine was oversharpened.

Isn't it amazing how statistics works! In response to your post I predicted 6.3 to be in top 50 in the accompanying thread (actually, my simple calculation based on the previous Deja Vu challenge gave 46th place) and you ended up on 45th! Congrats on a nice image!

(I predicted myself to be in top 10, and was right, too :))

Strarting to lose a little sharpness over at the back, otherwise good reproduction

The form of the ring created by the tips puts this one off for me. Also there is some space between some colors, just my 2 cents :) nice effort though.
