This is sort of a transitional image for you, in your small portfolio. I look at the dates on your various entries, and I see such rapid improvement! I'm sure by now you're aware how relatively unsophisticated the lighting is in this shot, and wish you could do it again. I'd make particular note that the pure black surround is not an ideal one for this subject, and that you have a vague "glare" on the box itself that is hurting you. That's the wax overlay on the cardboard carton, I believe. Some sort of coating anyway. It is possible that a polarizing filter would solve that problem; they work to some degree even with artifical light. |

Lol, yeah me too. And nope, only bought two bunches! Actually my first setup was with the monkeys amongst tropical-type plants but I wasn't happy with it. My daughter had been reorganising her room and had left a banana box of books within sightline of my computer. I just stuck two bananas in front of the holes to mostly hide the books and set the others on top of the books. |

One can have fun reading those comments. I for one have the humor for this though I didn't see it were slippers. :-) |

Ahaaaaa! SLIPPERS! Glad I came back and checked. I haven't slept since I first saw this. ;-) I'm glad you had fun - that's what's most important. Hang in there. :) |

It's funny, I never imagined that people wouldn't be able to see/infer/guess that these are slippers. Footwear challenge, what else could they be??? But I live in a household where odd/weird/slightly skewed is the norm so my mind naturally tends to slide a little off-center. I even discarded one of my shots because I didn't like the black line down the backs where the opening showed... should have used that one, I guess!
Thanks to those who took the time for a second and even a third look. Some figured it out eventually, some didn't, but I appreciate those who made the effort and didn't dismiss it out of hand.
I still had a blast doing this picture, I like it, and I learned lots, both technically and about what viewers here want/like. Thanks again, even if I didn't QUITE get the brown! |

I'm assuming those are slippers with monkey heads. Interesting idea, definitely different than the rest of the more traditional entries. |

Where are the shoes? I'm guessing those are monkey slippers? Or are they just stuffed animals? Funny shot nonetheless. |

Bumping this up because the challenge says to make your footwear a focal point of your photo. It doesn't say the photo has to have anything to do with the fact that it's footwear. This is a cute setup. :) |

I think you submitted in the wrong challenge.
Description: Sneakers? Pumps? Sandals? Clogs? Whatever your fancy, make something that you wear on your feet the focal point of your composition. |
