Hello, and greetings from the Critique Club!
I'm far from a pro, so if you want any further explanation or anything, feel free to let me know! :)
Initial Thoughts
Interesting image. Is she sitting in a library?
There aren̢۪t any photographer̢۪s notes listed so I̢۪m not sure about any processing.
Composition
I like the angle and the crop, and the fact that her face isn̢۪t showing completely. It does seem to me that she̢۪s looking at the book, though there̢۪s so little of the notebook paper sticking out that I̢۪m not sure she seems like she̢۪s actually writing.
I̢۪m not sure exactly what it is, but I find my eye jumping from her pencil-holding hand to her bent arm, and skipping over the schoolbook. Maybe there̢۪s not enough interest on the pages to attract attention?
While the background does look like a library, and fits in well with the picture, I find it a little distracting. Perhaps fewer items in the background would clean it up a little.
Lighting
The lighting here isn̢۪t bad, but the book seems a little blown out, as someone mentioned in the comments. A little more light on her body (but not her arms) and a little less on the book might balance it out a bit.
Camera Work / Technical
I like that the background is blurred. Her hand is sharp and focused, so it draws the attention there. Maybe focusing in a little more on her would help some... or even blurring her even more.
Fits the Challenge
"Photograph something that relates to education or school."
This definitely meets the challenge. Can't relate much more to education or school than homework. :)
My Opinion of the Photo
I love B&W photography. I like the idea, and that you̢۪ve focused on doing the actual homework rather than the person doing it. I think the problem for me is that there̢۪s nothing "exciting" about this image. Nothing really grabs attention in it.
Hope this helped at least a little!
Good job, and good luck in future challenges!
