Greetings from the Critique Club

Welcome to DPC. YOur second Challenge and looks as if you are having lots of fun setting up shots already.

In this image, you have an excellent idea but lacked the technical skill, probably, to pull it off. I'm going to defer to PhotoDude who gave you lots of good hints on how to make this image better.

I will add, however, that you might also look at composing this image differently. Frequently, smack in the middle subjects are not as interesting as, for example, off-center ones. Or on a diagonal, say from lower left to upper right.

Other than that, get out your tripod and give PhotoDude's suggestions atry. Finally, it helps us at the Critique Club and it helps you to understand how your camera works if you fill in and understand the settings on your camera.

I'll look forward to seeing more of your images on DPC.

IMOP.... I think there is a lot of reflection off the sequins. Good idea!

the mirror was a good ides, but IMO the angle is wrong and the reflection of the black sheet shows all to clearly.

next time to use this affect try a long exposure with verry dim light so that the sheet does not show but blacks out. i used basicaly the same technique for my paint with light submition sheet, mirror and all. but the light was so focused and dim that it didn't show in the reflection. (the sheet i used was actualy blue also)

you had the right idea and good instinced. give it another shot you don't need much and this would be a really dynamic image.

also shoot from the front of the shoes so the heel and underside arn't so strong in the image. oh and try using glass in place of the mirror its not quite as reflective place it on top of you black cloth and the try you lighting just a desk lamp or somthing, you will be shocked.

GL and keep at it.
