I used this technique in a different photograph so i perfected it and tweeked it to make this one. I used a very small aperature to get both coins to focus and used some sharpening

Great DOF and perspective. The only thing that gives it away is the shadows. Love it though!

what gives it away are the shadows, you can totally see that the quarter is further back.

Great perspective! It would help if you could have eliminated the shadows of the coins. The blow the illusion.

Very trippy. They look like they are on the same plane but then you look at the shadows. Great little trick.

very good idea only problem is that the shadows are off (gives away the affect)

Good job on the DOF. If it weren't for the shadows I would have thought they were side by side. Non American's might not know that the quarter is a larger coin than the penny.
