Greetings from the Critique Club

Oh, nice! My first thought on seeing this image was, "painterly." Your treatment of the flowers and leaves does give a just painted feeling to this and I like that a lot.

Certainly you met the Challenge with that ultra-square cropping and certainly the design is quite pleasing.

On composition, If I had to nit pic, I'd say that the right-in-the-middle stem is a touch awkward. Had you slanted the stem & flowers from (say) left to right, it might have been a more balanced composition. And would have left less empty space at the top.

However, you did receive a respectable score, and that's a plus!

Finally, I'll suggest that when you request a critique from the Critique Club, please do enter your camera settings. It helps us give you the best comments we can, and it helps you understand your camera as well.

I'll look forward to more of your images in DPC.

Simple yet quite stunning. My only critique is they lack the lustre I'm looking for. The composition and light are fine, but there is a certain flatness about the whole image. Maybe it was the desaturation. I've had that happen sometimes when going to black and white. I'd love to see the color version. 7

Really felt that colour was needed in this shot against the background provided.

The one leaf to the right provides very nice balance here.

Color seems too washed out. You might have done that on purpose, but I think it would be better with more color.

Interesting - not sure I like the desat. Seems to me you either needed to go completely B/W or stay with the color, but this muted look doesn't work for me. Just my opinion - hope you do well.

Your color choices and the shadows make this interesting to look at... just when I was getting sick of Peruvian Lilies. It is real, isn't it?
