Sheesh! Nothing seems to be working out. I just realized that I left all my CF cards at work. All I have it a measely 16Mb card. I can't even shoot RAW. So here I am shooting at medium sized jpegs. Oh my!

Ok so this is way out of the box! I am not sure how voters will perceived this image but as they say, "Bring it on!". If you had not noticed, the outlet is for a two prong but the plug is a three prong plug.

Let's see where the votes falls.
If the voters get it: 6.15
If they don't: 4.85

Let's hope for the higher score shall we?

Great image! Technically and aesthetically it is indeed very pleasing. I like it.

This is a great image and highly different from the rest. Well done and would serve well as a stock photo so I beg to differ with what was mentioned in a thread about this being plain and topical. Great job!

I have to agree here... I got the 3 prong/2 prong connection, but the outlet was so shaded that I somehow convinced myself that the sockets must have been somehow rotated on the outlet so that all 3 holes were still there. I never thought that it would actually be just a 2 prong outlet. My thinking was way more out of the box on this one than you intended the shot to be! (If that even makes any sense!)

This is a swell photo Rikki, I did get it and chose it for top ten at the very least. Silly voters :(

She bangs! She bangs!
What an awesome photo! I really do love it Rikki. The color is great and I just love the silhouetted plug. I got the connection to the challenge right away and thought it was clever and funny.
Focus is right on, color is stunning and this has great visual appeal.
There appear to be some jaggies along the cord and the outlet is a little dark...wonder what the outlet would look like with some light coming through it like a beam? Almost welcoming the plug, even though there's really no way the 2 are going to hook up.
The angle at which you chose to capture this image is good...I like how the plug is the center of attention, but not in the center. the cord leads us into the photo and keeps us there.
Only a 5.4? I really can't imagine why this didn't score higher...but it's right between where you thought you'd be.
Rikki...I wish I could offer you more advice on the shot, but honesly, can't find anything I'd like to have seen differently. ~Heather~

On the upside, the score you actually got is very close to the average of your two guesses. So this says something good about your predictive abilities :)

This was one of my favorite shots from this challenge, Rikki. I guess a lot of people didn't see the connection to the challenge, but it's a really nice setup regardless Is that the default Mac desktop in the background?

I like the blue and the silhouette. And how the cable seems to be floating. Is the "odd" part that the plug has the ground and the socket doesn't? You can buy an adapter for that at the hardware store.

Great light, colors and contrast, and it does fit the challenge in its own odd way... !

Great shot, but I don't see the odd couple connection.

:edit: I see it now

Mis-matched certainly, but I'm not sure I'd think of these two things as a couple. Good idea nonetheless and good composition.

I love the vibrant colors and appreciate the excellent lighting - the background texture is perfect - very well rendered - this 'couple' is going to need an adaptor however (grin)

Hmmm this took me a while to figure out. No vote just a comment from me so I hope you don't mind. The colors are fantastic. What caught my eye was your thumbnail. The blue really makes this stand out. I also didn't realize that it's indeed an odd couple! Creative!

What element of this represents 'odd couple?'

The "coupling" is not going to work. I get it and I saw it immediately. Good execution and nice composition. I really like the BG colour as well. Good work.

OH boy........ I'll cross fingers for you with this one. My immediate reaction was: "Huh? Why odd couple? Perfect match, more like it!!!" Then I studied it some more and noticed the mismatch..... not easy to see. I do like it a lot, but perhaps you should have made it a bit more obvious.

Okay, so the plug don't fit. Maybe you should get one of those adapter thingies. Actually you should hire an electrician to replace those out-dated recepticles. Great idea but this is probably to deep for most people too.

Good idea, but for me, this is a big stretch to see the Odd Couple relationship. A wall outlet and a plug attached or unattached, is not odd.
02/27/2006 03:13:06 AM
Doesn't look like it will fit in that socket! International travelers need to invest in adaptors. Nice blue, gives an electric feel.

Fantastic photo, and truly in keeping with the challenge topic.

I do fear however that you may suffer a low score due to the possibility that some of the voters may not take a great deal of time to take a really close look at images.

I voted this quite highly by the way. Keep up the good work.
