 Yes, These are real ladybugs. Please do not report me to the Society For The Prevention of Cruelty to Ladybugs. As in a previous ladybug submission of mine these are also previously deceased. This was a difficult challenge for me this week because I was not able to get out and find a satisfactory subject matter so I decided to make one up. I didn't have much time to set this up and there are alot of things I can see that could be better. Maybe I will revisit this idea at a future time and try to improve upon it.
I painted the Ladybugs with acrylic paint set them up on the leaf with a colorful patterned linen as the backround. The picture was taken using studio lighting. I had to clone out some of my painting errors as I was not very good at staying in the lines!. The picture was cropped slightly saturated, levels adjusted, sharpened and cleaned up with Neat Image. Hope you like it.

A stong contender for the top prize...a shot that is simply easy to understand. The color is, of course, the crux of your shot, and I think that you've done admirably. Good idea and good luck.

What an adorable photo.. it would make a great print for a child's room - the background is so well done....... the muted colors matching the subject... makes me happy just looking at it
