Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi joycobb :)
This photo doesn't seem to require much of a critique. It scored rather well. This photo meets the challenge very well overall. The only critique that I can possibly offer is that the lighting is a bit harsh and flat with the flash. Some directional light or natural light would have possibly produced a much more moody image. Some warm toning to the black and white would have also added an extra sense of 'comfort' to the image :)

Joy - Awesome ... 11th place is up there. The contentment of the cat is clear in those lazy half-shut eyes (I can hear the purring) and your daughter looks relaxed/comforted as well. I didn't vote on this challenge so I am glad to see your entry post-results. Awesome. |

Thank you all for your wonderful, helpful comments! I really appreciate it. I guess if I had this to do over, I probably wouldn't have sharpened the image...and I would have brushed the hair off of our daughter's face. LOL THANK YOU!!! |

I love how you chose to go black and white with this photograph. Great composition! 3 corners are dark, so I kind of wish the top left corner was also. But, then again, 3rds are always the way to go. Very well done! -9!!! |

Love this shot.. one of my top picks! The little hairs are a bit distracting, and there's a small overexposed spot at the top... but its such an adorable shot, that those things are easily overlookable (is that a word?). You captured some great textures in the sweater and the cat's fur, yet her face is very soft in comparison. And really, the entire key to this shot for me is the complete relaxation and contentment in both of their expressions. If I tried this with my cat, she'd be squirming and squiggling to get away. A fantastic job! |

Beautiful. The pattern of the cat contrasts perfectly with the perfectly with the girls smooth skin |

The lighting seems a bit harsh, and the cat's fur seems unnatural. Very nice pose! |

Very cosy! But a little oversharpened? I find the couple stray hairs on her face a distraction as well. Lovely models and cute pose, though. |

Nice. I like the composition, contrast and this is really tack sharp. Maybe almost too sharp for a warm and cozy type of shot but still a stellar photo. |

Great angles, but I can't help but notice the single strands of hair on the girl's forhead. Otherwise, it's a great picture! |

Nice, very comfortable looking. Detail on cat is a little too contrasty for my tastes. |

nice shot, but possibly a little too sharp, if that's possible. When I think of comfort I think soft lighting and soft focus...the flash use here is a little harsh |
