 The models name is Svala Jónsdóttir. Lit with a single Bowens light and a 100x100 softbox. Got the idea from a shot I saw that were advertising the contestants in the Eurovision contestants here in Iceland. Anyway, the thought was that this was an ad for the sunglasses.

Taken at about 55mm. Post processing was minimal, boosted the contrast heaps, reduced the saturation in the raw conversion and used curves again to increase the contrast. Shadow/highlight and sharpened after resizing.

When I first saw this picture the first thing I thought was "I've seen this one before". Didn't know where until a few days ago. There was this singing contest in Iceland for the Eurovision contest. Some photographer took pictures of the contestants and one of the picture looks very simular to this one. Here is a link to the picture. Just wanted to share this with you. It is amazing that two people get the exact idea.

Yes, this is very cool. Tie and top placed very well, and the glasses are perfect. Nice highlights on hair. Like how bottom fades to black. Nicely cropped. 9

Very well rendered...... the dark background and the black clothes of the model could have bombed badly - and it didn't... great use of light.. focus is great as is her skin tones...... most excellent

Just a wee bit lighter background would be nice - the left side of the model gets "lost" and the "fashion" doesn't get enough emphasis as it blends in. Great expression.

All that black runs together - this needs more separation from the background, either with a back light or a lighter colored background. Love the pose and the concept, there's just not enough definition between subject and background.
