Hi Amy. Well I'm here after your PM so I hope my comments make sense and it helps you understand a little different POV on your image.
First of all, this image scored very well with me. I like taking photos of bridges and architecture in general. The duotones are subtle and works really well in this composition.
Here's where I think your image fell short. In as much as he perspective you used is unusual and interesting, you might have forgotten what makes this bridge of all bridges interesting - the cables and their intricate nature. Roebling prided himself for creating a masterpiece that would be known throughout the world and the patterns that the cables create are one of them. IMHO there is too much of the pylon showing and not enough of the cables. Had the cables been there, this would have most liekly inched a few points closer if not over a 6. The sky is eerily smooth when you shot this bridge. I'm just glad that you had no sensor dust on your glass when you shot this.
The textures created by the stonework contrasted against the smooth sky offers a nice and bold statement.
Most viewers probably just ignored the beauty that lies beneath this marvel of New York. But still, 104th place out of 600+ entries is not a stat to frown upon. But like yourself, I was expecting something a bit higher.
Keep up the good work.

Just read the book The Great Bridge in the last 6 months. Wouldn't have caught the Roebling title otherwise. Interesting perspective. 7 |

I like your perspective - very cool. Good duotone entry. For me personally, I wish it were a bit sharper, but I'm one who likes crisp photos. I also like the lines and symmetry of the negative space in the upper right and lower left. Good eyes. |
