This was a very simple idea. My old sneakers have become "broken" in the sense that they don't work as they used to; they don't provide the walking-comfort they did before. Besides that, they've become a bit ugly.
Post-processing:
- Adjustment layers (hue/saturation, brightness/contrast, gradient fill, warming filter).
- Frame around the picture.

Now the voting is over and I came in 181 out of 281 with an average around 4.8. According to the commenters, people liked it, but didn't quite get "Broken" out of it. I guess that's a matter of oppinions. At least it tought me to be a bit more direct when it comes to the themes in the future. Always learning!

I've looked at this picture several times, and I just can't get broken out of it. It is an absolutely beautiful picture of an old, dirty pair of sneakers. 6 and to hell with the DNMC nazis.

The way the sneakers are positioned is pleasing, but the background sheet seems unnatural. The darkness of the shot works for a broken challenge, but then again.. what about these sneakers is broken?

Good concept, good positioning and angle, nice lighting, however be more thoughtful of the backdrop material you choose, it's color works well with the subject but the wooly boogers in the forground are distracting.

Without the title, I would never get broken from this image. While a good still life of shoes, I don't think it is particularly strong for this topic. 5

Old and dirty, but I'm not sure they are broken. I like the shoes but not the backdrop.

Hi. I like the look of the sneakers, but the background is a bit distracting. Perhaps they would be better in a more natural setting, by a trash can, in a basement corner...something like that.

I like the texture in the shoes. Not sure about the background though. It seems a little dark. The shoes do look good though so 6. Good Luck!

this will undoubtedly get marked dwon by many as "worn out" doesn't necesarilly mean broken. I like it, nice subdued colours
