| I have to echo Koriyama's comments - he put it very well. It's a good shot, but lacks punch. The focus does seem to be a tad off, and while I like the deep rich tones of the flower, they are too dark in the rest of the shot IMHO. These are beautifuly flowers though, and this is pretty. You may be able to lighten the background in PP. |

| The composition is good here. You use the rule of thirds well. You've also got a good DOF, which helps separate the flower from its background. The negative bits for me are: 1. The focus seems a bit off; 2. The background is dark which kind of depresses the overall feeling of the photograph; but the biggest point is that the treatment of the subject is a bit bland. You need to find something special about the flower, get right in, concentrate on an aspect of its form, use a filter to blur and romanticise it. Good luck with your photography. |
